The David Kirsch Diet
The David Kirsch diet was invented by a man named David Kirsch whose expertise draws from his diverse training background to combine his knowledge of physical fitness, good health and spiritual wellness in his approach to fitness and nutrition. He is a staunch advocate of mind-body conditioning, teaching clients like Liv Tyler, Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum among many others. He has incorporated his lifestyle philosophy – the achievement of balance of mind, body & spirit – into his well-received books and videos Sound Mind, Sound Body (January, 2002) and The Ultimate New York Body Plan (January, 2005).
David’s workout programs involve cardio, a lot on lunges, squats, and resistance exercises using light weights, (5 lbs is the heaviest) and doing high repetitions. For his diet he has a philosophy he calls the “ABCDEF” diet, which is a acronym for the foods that you should avoid while on this diet – alcohol, bread, starchy carbs, dairy, extra sweets, fruits, and most fats.
The David Kirsch Diet is comprised of an eight-week Eating Plan that is broken down into three phases:
- Phase 1 – takes you from the initial (more restrictive) two weeks of nutrition
- Phase 2 – where you are allowed a little more healthy carbohydrate latitude
- Phase 3 – which includes weekly cheat meals, among other things
It is in these two ladder phases that you learn to eat right and apply the valuable lessons that you’ve learned to keep you going for the rest of your life.
As the creator of the “No Excuse” training, it was imperative for Kirsch to teach people how to not only eat right, but incorporate exercise into their daily routines. Kirsch recommends a total of 90 minutes of exercise a day, but the good thing is that you can disperse these 90 minutes all throughout the day.
In his book, The Ultimate New York Body Plan, Kirsch will guide you through challegnces that we all face day-to-day, such as these:
- Living in a “to-go” society
- Finding the time for a “real” workout
- Following the plan in all types of restaurants, from fast food to fine dining
- Surviving the holidays, including cocktails, pigs in blankets, and everything in between
- “Getting back on the horse” when you have strayed
- Incorporating all of these principles and making a lifelong commitment to wellness for you and your family
This is an excellent and very sought-after diet since it not only teaches you how to eat the right foods, but also how to incorporate exercise into a busy schedule. The David Kirsch Diet is not about losing weight in 2 days or forgetting about it after a week. It’s about adopting a healthy lifestyle, learning it through and through and sticking with it for the rest of your life. After all, you only have one body and it’s your responsibility to upkeep it for as long as possible.
